Watch: Mitchell Johnson pushes Yusuf Pathan in ugly mid-pitch spat
The 2022 Legends League Cricket witnessed an ugly fight between all-rounder Yusuf Pathan and bowler Mitchell Johnson during the match between Bhilwara Kings and India Capitals on Sunday.
A video of the incident going viral on social media showed Pathan, who was batting for Bhilwara Kings, advancing towards pacer Johnson arguing angrily about something.
As Pathan got close, Johnson pushed him and the umpires on the field ran up to separate the two. The 34-second video ends with the two still exchanging words
An IANS report quoted sources as saying that the organisers were not at all happy with what happened and were planning to ban Johnson, who plays for India Capitals, for a match as per ICC laws.
In the match played at the Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur, India Capitals beat Bhilwara Kings by four wickets and enter the final of the tournament.
The heroes for India Capitals were former New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor, who struck a quick-fire 84 off 39 balls, and West Indies star Ashley Nurse, who smashed 60 of 28 balls.
For Bhilwara Kings, allrounder Shane Watson scored 65 runs off 39 balls, and William Porterfield struck 59 off 37 balls. Yusuf Pathan (48 off 28) and Rajesh Bishnoi (36 not out off 11) carried out an assault in the death overs and helped Bhilwara Kings reach a challenging 226-5. Mitchell Johnson (2/51) ended the inning as the leading bowler for India Capitals.
Despite Sunday’s loss, Irfan Pathan-led Bhilwara Kings will get another shot at securing their berth in the final when they take on third-placed Gujarat Giants in the eliminator match at the same venue on Monday.
The Final will be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday.
