Watch: Jonny Bairstow takes one-handed stunning catch to dismiss KL Rahul
England batsman Jonny Bairstow produced an outstanding piece of effort in the field as he grabbed a one-handed stunner with his left hand at the second slip to see the back of Team India opener KL Rahul in the first session on Day three of the third Test at Headingley.
Openers Rohit Sharma and Rahul had almost survived the 19 overs of batting before lunch, which would have marked a decent session for India, however, Bairstow had other ideas. Craig Overton, the most threatening England bowler in the innings so far, had troubled both batsmen especially Rahul with the movement but mainly height and he got the rewards soon enough.
Overton bowled a length delivery in that channel of uncertainty outside the off-stump and Rahul had to play at it, but could only get a thick outside edge and the ball flew towards the first slip, where skipper Joe Root was standing. However, Bairstow at second slip threw his left hand towards the ball and plucked it out of thin air as it stuck and the England team was in jubilation.
WHAT A CATCH!!

A wicket at the stroke of lunch in form of Rahul was a big break as if Indian openers stayed a little longer at the crease it could have made things difficult for England as happened at Lord’s and now it will expose the fragile middle-order, who is on short of runs and confidence.
Earlier, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah picked up a wicket apiece as India bowled out the hosts for 432 runs as the latter could add only nine runs to their overnight score.
Jonny has earned his wages with one catch. Literally plucked it out of nowhere. Without the big gloves on. #ENGvIND

Typical Bairstow that, playing at a ball he should’ve left…
