Watch: Issy Wong becomes first bowler to take hat-trick in WPL | Cricket News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians pacer Issy Wong etched her name in the record books by becoming the first bowler in the Women’s Premier League to take a hat-trick. Wong achieved the milestone against UP Warriorz in the Eliminator at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The hat-trick took place in the 13th over when the England pacer removed Kiran Navgire, who was caught at deep midwicket by Nat Sciver-Brunt. The right-arm pacer castled Simran Shaikh with a cross seam delivery on the next ball to make it two in two.

Wong went on to make history as she cleaned up Sophie Ecclestone to complete a hat-trick and leave Warriorz reeling at 84/7 in 12.4 overs. Ecclestone got an inside edge that crashed onto the stumps.
Mumbai dished out a commanding performance to outplay in all departments and register a huge 72-run victory to set up the WPL final against Delhi Capitals.
Wong was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 4/15 after Nat Sciver-Brunt’s unbeaten 38-ball 72 propelled Mumbai to 182/4.

After being asked to bat, Mumbai were kept on a tight leash with both openers — Yastika Bhatia (21) and Hayley Matthews (26) — failing to convert their starts to a bigger score.
Sciver-Brunt stabilised the innings with India and Mumbai captain Harmanpreet Kaur as the duo pushed the score past 100 in the 13th over.
