Watch as Canelo Alvarez makes his way to the ring as he attempts to become the first-ever undisputed super-middleweight champion.
Canelo Alvarez is the biggest name in boxing now, and he will stop at nothing to cement his name into boxing history forever. After a big win in May over Billy Joe Saunders, Alvarez is the WBA, WBC, and The Ring super-middleweight champion. Six months later, Alvarez will see Caleb Plant, the current WBO super-middleweight champion, standing across the ring from him and be just one win away from becoming the first-ever undisputed super-middleweight champion.
With the weight of such a huge match comes a huge walk-out.
Canelo Alvarez is serenaded by the voices of thousands and the lead voice of Maná
Alvarez has used his walkouts during his championship reign to show love to his Mexican roots. This time, Alvarez took the opportunity to shed light on one of the best-selling Latin pop/rock groups of all time, Maná, and mariachi music in general.
After a brief video package, the broadcast cameras made their way down a tunnel of lights where a lone figure stood, surrounded by and colorful LED screens. That man, the lead singer of Maná, Fher Olvera, began singing El Rey, an iconic mariachi song.
After Olvera, and the crowd at MGM Arena, sang the first verse, Canelo Alvarez rounded the corner of the tunnel and was visible for the first time. Clothed in head to toe in golden gear, Alvarez sent a clear message that he is going to become champion.
