The St. Louis Cardinals got to have some fun as they faced the San Francisco Giants. While up by a large margin, the Cardinals let Albert Pujols pitch.
Sunday evening, the St. Louis Cardinals took the chance to have some fun. While they were up by a huge margin over the San Francisco Giants, the Cardinals decided to let Albert Pujols take the mound and threw a few pitches.
Now, Pujols is generally known for hitting home runs and making pitchers upset. He’s never actually had the chance to pitch in a Major League Baseball game.
That changed Sunday.
While Pujols wasn’t particularly effective, he didn’t really need to be. The Cardinals were ahead by such a large margin that there was never any real concern that St. Louis might stumble and lose to the Giants.
So, sure, have some fun. Especially when your team is ahead 15-2 in a game.

And yeah, Pujols did get the opportunity to pitch. Sure, he managed to do that. He joined a couple pretty exclusive clubs in the process, technically.
But he sure wasn’t all that good at doing this.
But hey, at least Pujols managed to entertain a few folks and create some memories for guys like Evan Longoria in the process.
Again, Pujols wasn’t great, not by any stretch of the imagination. But, well, he got three guys out. That’s technically all he needed to do. And he did it.
