‘I’ll still contribute off the field’: Von Miller teases coaching role with the Bills after the linebacker was ruled out for the season with an ACL tear
Buffalo Bills All-Pro pass rusher Von Miller could join the team’s coaching staff as he recovers from season ending ACL surgery on his right knee.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced on Wednesday, that Miller had undergone ACL surgery on his right knee after being hurt in the 28-25 win against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.
However, his involvement in the team’s playoff run and Super Bowl charge may not entirely over.

‘I’ll still contribute off the field,’ Miller told The Pat McAfee Show on Thursday. ‘I know our defense isn’t going to miss a beat without me.’
Meanwhile, Buffalo’s official Twitter account teased Miller’s involvement as it posted a picture of him on Thursday with the caption ‘Coming soon: Coach Von Miller.’
Miller had been hoping to return in time to face the New York Jets on Sunday before being placed on the Bills’ injury reserve ahead of the team’s 24-10 win on December 1 against the New England Patriots.
‘Unfortunate situation, for Von, obviously, and our team. Care for him, obviously, like we would any player,’ McDermott said.

‘We know how much this means to him in terms of playing and being with the team, so we look forward to getting him back, obviously off the field for the rest of the season and his leadership, and we’re certainly thinking about him as he recovers here.’
Even though the Bills will still field one of the strongest defenses in the league they will absolutely miss Miller’s impact on the field.
Through 11 games this season Miller had recorded 21 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hits and eight sacks for the Bills this season.
The Bills currently lead the tightly contested AFC East with a 9-3 record but are only a game up on the 8-4 Miami Dolphins. If Miller’s absence causes a loss this weekend it could see the Bills not only concede the division to the Dolphins, but it would also allow New York to move within one game of the top spot.
