Vivek Agnihotri takes a dig at Besharam Rang song, reshares a video criticizing the Shah Rukh-Deepika number – Times of India

While the movie
Pathaan is being eagerly awaited, it has also been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons. The lead actor of the movie Deepika Padukone is being massively trolled for wearing a saffron bikini in the song
Besharam Rang. Some religious groups took offence to the colour of the bikini and the actor is also being criticized for excessive skin show.

While fans are divided on what is right and wrong when it comes to creative liberties vis-à-vis movies, most of the industry is standing strong with the makers of the action thriller, saying that the main motive of a movie is to entertain and it is upto a director on how and what he wants to portray on screen.

However, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who has been in the news ever since his movie
The Kashmir Files released early this year, begs to differ from the rest of his fraternity. The controversial filmmaker recently took to his Twitter handle to reshare a video criticizing the overt skin show and sensationalism in movies. In the video, a young teenage girl is talking about the after effects of seeing such provocative content on screen and is seen ‘urging’ makers to make ‘clean’ content that can be watched with the entire family. While she talks directly to the camera, clips of the
Pathaan song play on a split screen.

Resharing the same, the director wrote,
“WARNING: #PnV video against Bollywood. Don’t watch it if you are a Secular”

Pathaan is directed by Siddharth Anand and co-stars John Abraham as the rakish antagonist. The movie will hit theatres on January 25 next year.
