‘Virat Kohli Oxford Street chala jayega bina kapdo ke’: Sourav Ganguly’s hilarious response to Amitabh Bachchan on KBC

The recent ‘Shaandar Shukravar’ (Fantastic Friday) episode of the 13th edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) featured two of India’s best batsmen – former captain and current BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and former attacking opener Virender Sehwag.

During the episode, the two batsmen and the host, Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan talked about the iconic 2002 moment on the Lord’s balcony when the then skipper had taken his shirt off after the Indian team chased down 326 runs in the Natwest Trophy final against the hosts England.

Mr Bachchan had asked him about the reaction and how his family and daughter felt about the same, Ganguly revealed how his daughter Sana reacted to it. “My daughter once watched it and asked me why did I do it. I have scored over 20, 000 runs and hit so many cover drives, but everybody keeps talking about the Lord’s balcony celebration.”

Amitabh Bachchan, however, was quick to point out that he thoroughly enjoyed the moment saying that Indians generally keep their emotions to themselves and don’t let them out but it was good to see an Indian captain doing something like that, not thinking of what will happen.

However, Ganguly was quick to point out to Bachchan to limit his praise for his celebration saying that current Indian skipper Virat Kohli will run across Oxford Street without his clothes after listening to this and getting inspired by the same.

Zyada mat boliye varna Virat Kohli Oxford street chala jaega bina kapdo ke,” Ganguly said.

Both Ganguly and Sehwag played the show to contribute to their respective foundations, while Ganguly’s one provides help to the ones affected by COVId-19 while Sehwag’s provides to the families of the martyrs, who laid their lives in Pulwama attacks.
