Vidya Balan opens up on pay parity in Bollywood, reveals she is happy with what she is getting, as per the films she picks – Times of India

Many female actors like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor have earlier opened up on the pay parity in Bollywood, expressing displeasure that the female leads are paid much less, even if their role has the same screen time as the main lead. Now actor Vidya Balan, known for her author backed roles has spoken about it, saying that she is happy with what she is getting.

In a roundtable discussion by News18, the
Kahaani actor spoke about the issue at length. The 43-year-old said that she really does not have much idea about pay parity since she hardly works with ‘big heroes’. Moving on, the
No One Killed Jessica actor added that vis-à-vis the projects that she is doing, she thinks she is compensated fairly, though the bigger actors in mainstream movies might demand 10 times of what she is getting.

Dasvi actor Nimrat Kaur, who too was part of the discussion, along with
Jersey actor Mrunal Thakur said that this indeed is a healthy way of looking at it, while adding that mostly actors are paid in accordance with the kind of audience that they can pull in. Finally, Mrunal said that in terms of pay, it is important to make your stance clear as to what you are expecting, before signing a movie.

Vidya Balan will soon be seen with Pratik Gandhi in an untitled film, which will also star Ileana D’cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy.
