The video of a specially-abled woman Swiggy partner riding a wheelchair to deliver food has gone viral on social media, with many hailing her doughty spirit.

The video clip was posted to Twitter by Swati Maliwal, chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women. “Of course life is difficult, but we have not learned to accept defeat. I salute the spirit,” she wrote in Hindi.

The video shows a specially-abled woman in Swiggy’s orange jacket riding a motorised wheel chair along a slightly busy road.

The video has received close to 2.75 lakh views in a little over a day. Many praised the way she carried on with her life, others reflected on whether society was doing enough for specially-abled people.

“There are those who fight to change their circumstances and those who accept things as they are… She’s a fighter,” said a user.

“Access to assistive devices, accessible infrastructure and opportunities is what is missing for most persons with #disabilities. If that were the case, this won’t be a novelty rather the norm,” commented another.

Yet another user shared a video from a few months a specially-abled delivery agent from Zomato going about his work on a busy road.
