Victoria Beckham on Using Pastel Makeup to “Play Dress Up” on Her Paris Runway
At Victoria Beckham’s second show in Paris, the designer introduced a new twist on color-shocked gazes to the Val-de-Grâce. “I explored the concept of playing dress up, taking an unafraid approach to experimenting, which translated from the collection to the makeup,” Beckham tells Vogue. Above deconstructed silhouettes in a rainbow of silks, pastel knits, and graphic black and white textures, Beckham debuted her latest beauty launch with a flipped cat-eye designed to feel “youthful, fresh, and still wearable” on the runway and beyond.

Down the catwalk, vivid swipes of new Victoria Beckham Beauty EyeWear shadow sticks in lilac Macaron, mustard yellow Sunflower, and beige khaki Trench lit up model complexions. “It was important for us to capture the unique personalities of each model,” Beckham pointed out. She worked with makeup artist Fara Homidi to conceptualize the look, which consisted of upside-down winged liner applied under the eyes. “You would normally wear it on top, so we wanted to kind of reverse that,” Homidi explains. “The technique is really just to go into the waterline once or twice, and then a little bit underneath, and then kind of smudge it in.” She adds that Beckham was all for the lived-in, perfectly imperfect effect. “One thing Victoria really loves about it is that EyeWear is so creamy that it gets onto the bottom lashes and coats them, which gives a really fun, different vibe.”
