Victor Glemaud Brings His Signature Joy and Optimism to HSN With VG by Victor Glemaud
Sweaters have cutouts at the shoulders and asymmetric hems, and faux leather stretch pants come with ponte insets in the back. “We’re doing ponte in the main collection as well, so there’s really a through line between all that we do, so it feels really cohesive and not like a separate thing, and that was very intentional.” The collection will be available in sizes XS to 3X, something that the designer is especially proud of. “When we started talking, I was adamant that the collection be size inclusive, and HSN didn’t bat an eye at that, and that has been something that I have been fighting to do since I was in the Fashion Fund in 2017,” he recalled.
Another thing Glemaud is excited about is the ability to interact with customers and get feedback. “The direct response is really impressive, there’s a hashtag, and customers respond in real time,” he explained. “You know, now, I might see something on social, I might see a DM, or I might bump into a customer in a store or something, but there’s no real direct communication.” He’s already been down to the HSN campus to receive on-camera training, but he’s also gotten first-hand advice from friends who have been part of the HSN universe. “I’ve been speaking to some friends who do it to get some context, and they’re like, ‘Oh, you have good time slots, you have this, you have that,’ so I am like, ‘Oh, this is a big deal,’” he said and then laughed. “Iman told me to ‘be yourself.’” Fitting advice for a designer who’s made a career making clothes that let women do exactly that.
