Vicky Kaushal opens up on how he grabbed Govinda Naam Mera, reveals it was ray of light amidst dark times – Times of India

Whether it was Masaan (2015), Raazi (2018), Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) or Sardar Udham (2021), the actor has played some deep, intense roles on screen, winning the hearts of audience with every movie of his. However, with Shashank Khaitan’s Govinda Naam Mera, released on OTT earlier this month, Vicky turned the tables around vis-à-vis his character.

In an interview to indianexpress.com, the 34-year-old opened up on how he was sold to Govinda Naam Mera’s script, the minute director Shashank Khaitan narrated it to him. Recalling the same, Vicky said that at that time we were in the second phase of the pandemic and with so much negativity and turmoil around, the thought of giving the audience something light and breezy, that too from the comfort of their home was something that really appealed to him.

Vicky also went on to add that personally too, he was keen to explore a space that is fun and uncomplicated, a movie where he is not shedding copious amount of tears and that is exactly what Govinda Naam Mera gave him.

Govinda Naam Mera, co-starring Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
