Varun Dhawan: Expected Bhediya to do better at the box office – Times of India
In an interview with Midday, the actor said that when the lockdown happened, he had hit a roadblock which made him feel burnt out. Hence, going forward he made sure that his films creatively satisfy him. The reason to do them should not be that he has dates available.
He added that he waited a long time to sign Jugjugg Jeeyo, Bhediya, and Nitesh Tiwari’s Bawaal. Hence, 2022 has been one of the most satisfying years creatively. “As an actor, I am the proudest of these three films.”
The actor, however, admitted that he expected the horror comedy Bhediya to perform better than it did at the box office. He said that it has been such a strange year with films, trying to get people back to theatres, he had expected Bhediya would do numbers than it did. “However, I am grateful that people have seen the film in cinemas, and its [collection] is higher than that of many. It tells you that you should try and do better.”
Speaking of Bawaal, the film helmed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Bawaal is touted to be a timeless love story that will require Varun and Janhvi Kapoor’s characters to travel across multiple countries. The film is all set to hit the screens on April 7, 2023.
