‘Varisu’ box office collection day 8: Vijay’s family drama hits 100 crores in Tamil Nadu – Times of India

Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Varisu’ began its box office rampage on Jan 11 and the film has been released as a Pongal treat for fans. The extended first week and multiple holidays helped the film add quick numbers at the box office. Vijay’s family drama has hit Rs 100 crores in Tamil Nadu. If reports are to be believed, at the end of day 8, the ‘Varisu’ box office collection stands around Rs 228 crores worldwide, and the film has broken into the Rs.100 crore mark in Tamil Nadu. ‘Varisu’ has become Vijay’s 6th film to achieve the mark in the home state, and the actor once again proves his box office power.
The domestic collection of the film has reportedly reached over Rs 150 crores and the sentimental drama has been breaking into landmarks across locations. In the USA, Vijay starrer has earned over $1.5 million and in a quick time the film has become the actor’s second film to achieve the mark. The release of ‘Varisu’ Telugu and Hindi dubbed versions have helped the film add more numbers at the box office, and the film is marching heroically in its second week.

‘Varisu’ features Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, and the film also has Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Jayasudha, Shaam, Srikanth, Sangeetha, Yogi Babu, and Ganesh Venkatram among others in important roles.
