‘Varisu’ box office collection day 4: Vijay’s emotional drama beats Ajith’s ‘Thunivu’ in several locations – Times of India

Vijay’s ‘Varisu’ and Ajith’s ‘Thunivu’ clashed at the box office on Jan 11, and both films opened with positive reviews from fans. ‘Thunivu’ conquered the box office stats on the opening day, and Ajith’s film occupied more screens on Jan 11. Vijay’s emotional drama has beaten Ajith’s action drama ‘Thunivu’in several locations. ‘Varisu’ reportedly earned Rs 103 crores at the end of day 3 and became the tenth film of Vijay to achieve the 100 crore mark. On Saturday, the first holiday from its release, ‘Varisu’ got additional screens across locations, as Ajith’s film was replaced by Vijay’s film.
On day 4, ‘Varisu’ reportedly earned almost Rs 16 crores in Tamil Nadu, and the global collection of the film stands at around Rs 125 to 130 crores. The release of ‘Varisu’ Telugu version ‘Vaarasudu’ has added power to the film’s box office and the film has received a thumbs up from the Telugu states as well. Meanwhile, ‘Varisu’ makers have declared the film a Pongal winner as it has been developing well at the box office to transform into a box office blockbuster.

‘Varisu’ reservations have been going strong in theatres across locations, and several shows are already sold out for the following days with the Pongal holidays to follow in Tamil Nadu on Monday and Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Vamshi Paidipally directorial features Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, and the emotional family drama has been cleanly delivered with a mixture of comedy, action, love, and sentiment. Thaman’s music, and Sarathkumar, Jayasudha, Prakash Raj, and Shaam’s roles add strength to the film.
