Valencia SACK Gennaro Gattuso after seven months in charge with the Spanish side lying 14th in LaLiga… with Los Che set to face European champions Real Madrid next
Gennaro Gattuso has been sacked as Valencia manager on Monday after seven months at the helm.
The Italian, 45, only won five of his 18 matches in charge and the side currently lie 14th in the LaLiga table after a 1-0 defeat against Real Valladolid on Sunday night.
Los Che travel to the capital to face European champions Real Madrid up next, with Voro Gonzalez in caretaker charge of the club for an incredible eighth time.
The club sack him a little more than a quarter of the way through the two-year contract he signed when appointed in June.
Valencia said in a statement: ‘Valencia CF announces that this Monday, January 30, the club and the first team coach, Gennaro Gattuso, have decided by mutual agreement to end the contractual relationship that united the Italian coach with the VCF.
‘The Club wants to thank the coach for his commitment and work in these months in charge of the first team and wish him the best of luck in his future. The team will return to training this Tuesday, January 31, under the orders of ‘Voro’ Gonzalez.’
