Vaani Kappor made her debut with Shuddh Desi Romance back in 2013 and followed it up with films like Aaha Kalyanam (Telugu version of Band Baaja Baaraat), Befikre and War. The actress is soon going to make her OTT debut for a show called Mandala Murders, a crime thriller which is backed by Yash Raj Films and created by Gopi Puthran of Mardaani fame.
ETimes got in touch with the actress and she told us how excited she is to make her OTT debut. She said, “ I’m very excited about the show. It’s a genre that I’ve never tried my hands at and I hope everybody likes it as much as we do.”
We also pointed out to her that in the last 10 years she’s only done 7 films, to which she replied, “Because the opportunities that every artist gets is very different. I try to pick from what I’m being offered and I try to be very honest with my choices. It is not very often that you get lucky with good films with great stories and great filmmakers.”
The actress also played a transgender character in her film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. She reveals that that she is in complete support of same-sex marriage, a conversation that is raging in the country and in the highest court of the land. She says, “I fully support it and love should always win and love always wins.” She also added that while playing her character in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui she had put too much pressure on herself to get it right as she was representing a community that she was not a part of and she didn’t want any injustice to be done to them through her portrayal.
