Union Budget: New announcements by Nirmala Sitharaman – Times of India
Budget 2023 would focus on inclusive development and especially cater to women, youth, India’s farmers and the tribal population, Finance Minister Niramala Sitharaman said on Wednesday, while presenting her fifth budget.

1. Agri accelerator fund will be set up to encourage agri startups in rural areas
2. Govt to support Hyderabad-based millet institute as centre of excellence
3. National digital library for children and adolescents for facilitating books across geography, literature, etc. National Book Trust and children’s book trust will be encouraged to boost reading habits. Collaboration with NGOs who work in literacy will be part of this.
4. Three centres of excellence will be set up for Artificial Intelligence in India’s leading educational institution
5. New programme to promote R&D in pharma will be launched
6. Eklavaya Model Residential Schools -in the next 3 years the Centre will recruit 38,800 teachers and support staff for 740 schools serving 3.5 lakh tribal students
7. To improve social-economic condition of the Particularly Tribal Groups, PMPBTG Development mission will be launched, to saturate PBTG habitations with basic facilities. Rs 15,000 cr to be made available to implement scheme in next 3 year
8. The government will launch a sub-scheme under PM Matsya Sampada Yojana with an outlay of Rs 6,000 crore to further enable those involved in fisheries
9. India will set up 157 new nursing colleges across 4 locations in India.
10. PAN will be used as common identifier for all digital systems of specified Govt agencies
11. 100 labs for 5G apps to be set up in engineering institutes
12. Lab grown diamonds production to be encouraged via grant to an IIT
13. Green growth: Rs 35000 cr for priority capital investment for Energy transition
14. 50 additional airports, heliports, water aerodromes, and advanced landing zones to be revitalised. 100 critical transport infra projects for steel, ports, fertiliser, coal, foodgrain sectors have been identified with an investment of Rs75,000 crore including Rs 15,000 crore from private sources.
15. Coding, AI, Robotics, IoT, 3D printing and other soch soft skills will be the focus of skilling. A unified skill India platform will be launched and stipend support to 47 lakh youth will be extended
16. New app to enhance tourism in India will be launched. 50 new destinations will be identified for tourism in India
17. Data embassies will be facilitated in GIFT IFC
18. Central processing centre will be set up for faster response to companies
19. For investors to reclaim unclaimed shares and unpaid dividends, an integrated IT portal will be launched
20. Maximum savings deposit limit will be enhanced for senior citizens to double to Rs 30 lakh
21. New small savings plan announced for women for up to two years till March 2025
