The Oakland Police Department is investigating an alleged sex act in the stands during Sunday’s Athletics-Seattle Mariners game at RingCentral Coliseum after another spectator recorded the couple from across the ballpark.

‘The Oakland Police Department was not alerted to this incident until after the game and we were advised that A’s staff/cameras did not capture video of this during the game,’ OPD Public Information Officer Candace Keas said in a statement to KRON4. ‘We have initiated an investigation.

‘However, the parties have not been identified and no one has been cited/arrested at this time. The violation is 647(a) PC. Lewd acts in public.’

The viral video surfaced during Oakland's 5-3 win over Seattle, showing one individual seated in the upper left-field bleachers, seemingly engaged in a sex act with another person. The couple was isolated in the stands on a day in which the A's barely sold 9,000 tickets

The humor of the situation has not been lost on resilient A's fans amid a dreadful 45-78 campaign. One trio recorded themselves on Monday in the same section the couple was seated in a day earlier, only instead of engaging in a sex act, these spectators were holding signs reading 'play balls,' 'don't blow it,' and 'keep your head in the game'

If identified, charged, and convicted, the couple could be punished with a six-month prison sentence and a fine of $1,000.

A’s spokespeople did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com’s request for comment.

While the couple was definitely in public, Athletics games have been intimate affairs in recent seasons as attendance has dwindled.

Currently Oakland ranks dead last in the majors in attendance at less than 10,000 spectators per game. The dearth of fans and the club’s struggles to secure a new stadium in the Bay Area have fueled rumors that the Athletics could follow the NFL’s Raiders in moving from Oakland to Las Vegas.
