Ukraine President Zelensky video calls Mila Kunis, Ashton Kutcher to thank for $35 million aid for refugees: They inspire the world – Times of India

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky reached out to Hollywood power couple Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher via video call, to personally thank them for their efforts to raise over USD 35 million to help aid relief and rehabilitation efforts for the people of Ukraine amid its war with Russia.

Taking to his official handle, tweeted a picture of himself talking to the couple and thanked them for their support in a caption that read, “Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis were among the first to respond to our grief.”

Revealing that the couple already raised USD 35 million to help Ukrainian refugees, he added, “Grateful for their support. Impressed by their determination. They inspire the world. #StandWithUkraine”

Kunis, a native of Ukraine and Kutcher, made headlines last week when they set up a GoFundMe campaign with a goal of reaching USD 30 million to aid relief efforts. Within a week, the star couple hit their target and so far earned nearly USD 35 million toward refugee and humanitarian efforts. The couple also pledged $3 million of their own money.

On reaching their goal, Ashton and Mila shared a video update last week and said, “We just wanted to say, we’ve hit our goal. Over 30m dollars raised. Over 65,000 of you donated. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your support.”

Appealing to fans and people of the world to help them in their relief efforts, Kunis wrote on her GoFundMe page, “Ukrainians are proud and brave people who deserve our help in their time of need. This unjust attack on Ukraine and humanity at large is devastating and the Ukrainian people need our support. … While we are witnessing the bravery of Ukrainians, we are also bearing witness to the unimaginable burden of those who have chosen safety. Countless amounts of people have left everything they know and love behind to seek refuge. With nothing but what they could carry, these Ukrainian refugees are in need of housing and supplies right away.”

She also addressed the situation in her homeland in an interview with Maria Shriver, saying she was “awestricken” by the people there who are fighting back, including those with their own “makeshift weapons”.

“It is inspiring,” she added, expressing her admiration for Zelensky.
