UFC Vegas 53 goes down on Saturday, April 30, 2022, starting at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN+. In the main event, two top-ranked bantamweights collide with the hopes of moving closer to a title shot against undisputed champion Aljamain Sterling.
After losing to Jose Aldo last time out, Rob Font looks to bounce back and get back in the win column. Earlier in his career, Font was going back-and-forth between wins and losses before evolving as a fighter and dominating most of the division. Now that Font has reached the top 5, he finds himself only a couple of wins away from a title shot.
Meanwhile, Vera has established himself as one of the toughest fighters in the UFC bantamweight division. After beating Sean O’Malley, Vera lost a war against Aldo before winning two straight fights against Davey Grant and Frankie Edgar. Vera is currently ranked 8th in the division with the chance to crack the top 5 with a win against Font.
In the co-main event, longtime UFC heavyweight Andrei Arlovski looks for his fourth straight win when he takes on Jake Collier. At 43 years old, Arlovski has the chance to continue fighting against father time and further his legacy.
Other fights to watch at UFC Vegas 53 include Andre Fili vs. Joanderson Brito, Gerald Meerschaert vs. Krzysztof Jotko, and Tatsuro Taira vs. Carlos Candelario.
