  • The pair met at UFC 230 back in 2018 when Adesanya emerged victorious

Derek Brunson dominated England’s Darren Till at UFC Fight Night before calling immediately for a re-match with middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.

Adesanya beat him at UFC 230 back in November 2018 and Brunson is eager to show how far he has come – but he received a swift and dismissive reply from the Last Stylebender.

After sealing victory in Las Vegas, Brunson roared into the camera: ‘Israel Adesanya, boy, I ain’t been working all this time for nothing boy. You next, boy. You next!’

Brunson then added post-fight: ‘I’m tired of these guys not mentioning my name.

‘You know [Adesanya], look at the camera, mention my name. I heard you mentioning Till and [Jared] Cannonier.

‘Because I’ve been busting my butt, four years after my loss to get back to this point. I’m ready to contend.’

Adesanya, often quick to respond when called out, was dismissive. He posted on Twitter: ‘Calm down… boy. You still a bum… son’ in an apparent play on words on Brunson’s surname.

Adesanya also included a video of Brunson calling him out on Saturday night overlaid with the caption: ‘… Remember the last time he called me ‘boy.”

Till, 28, from Liverpool, opened the middleweight bout with some strong boxing but struggled to defend against Brunson’s superior wrestling.

Brunson took Till to the ground multiple times in the first two rounds, inflicting a hefty amount of damage.

The third round began in similar fashion to the first with Till wobbling Brunson with a deft one-two combo.

However he was unable to capitalise, eventually succumbing to another takedown and allowing Brunson to take his back and lock in a rear-naked choke.

Till was upbeat despite a fourth loss in his last five fights and posted pictures of two fighters – Michael Bisping and Charles Oliveira – who struggled before rising to become UFC champions.

Oliveira replied by saying: ‘Keep your head up, never give up! God knows everything. Return home, get back in the gym – train and dedicated [sic] yourself.’
