UConn standout Adama Sanogo declares for the NBA Draft, was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player

UConn big man Adama Sanogo has announced that he will be forgoing the remainder of his college eligibility and will declare for the 2023 NBA Draft.

In a post on Instagram, Sanogo revealed his decision while thanking the fans and the coaching staff for all they did.

‘Thank you UConn. Thank you to the best fans in the country that have supported me from the first day I got to Storrs,’ Sanogo began. 

‘Thank you to the incredible support and guidance from Coach Hurley and the staff. They invested the time and energy to making me a better player and person. Most importantly thank you to my family, and support system that has always allowed me to focus on reaching my dreams and have sacrificed so much for me. 

‘I am so excited for the next stop on my journey and proud to announce that I will declare for the 2023 NBA Draft and will stay focused on the process and giving myself every chance possible to hear my name called. I will always cherish my time at UConn and will always be my home away from home.’

Sanogo won a national title with UConn this year and was named Most Outstanding Player

ESPN ranks Sanogo as the ninth best center prospect & the 87th best overall player in the draft

Sanogo was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player after averaging 19.7 points and 9.8 rebounds in the NCAA Tournament en route to helping Connecticut win the fifth title in school history.

The 6-foot-9 power forward/center was named first-team All-Big East for the second straight season and averaged 17.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game and shooting just over 60 percent from the field.

He joins fellow Huskies star Jordan Hawkins in joining the NBA Draft ranks. Other UConn players found on draft boards include Donovan Clingan – who has committed to return – and Andre Jackson, who is undecided.

Sanogo is currently ranked as the 87th best prospect in ESPN’s draft rankings and qualifies as their ninth-best center prospect.
