U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup: Bollywood celebs congratulate Team India on its historic win
India won their first ICC trophy in women’s cricket on Sunday at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom after defeating England by an overwhelming margin of seven wickets to claim the first U-19 T20 World Cup. India won the coveted title after first bowling England out for 68 in 17.1 overs and then coming back to complete the easy target in 14 overs.
After making history on January 29, the Indian women’s cricket team received widespread praise, as social media erupted in excitement. Various Bollywood superstars taking to social media also praised the women cricket team.
Amitabh Bachchan in a tweet congratulated team India for beating England. He wrote, “Khatiya khadi kar di.”
Taapsee Pannu, who appeared in cricketer Mithali Raj’s biopic “Shabaash Mithu” last year, posted a few pictures of the Indian squad on her Instagram stories to congratulate the victorious team. She also wished cricketer Shafali Verma a happy birthday.
Anushka Sharma reposted the Indian Cricket Squad’s Instagram post, which included the India Women’s Team with the term “champions” at the top.
Kajol congratulated the team, saying that the “Women In Blue” made us all proud. Ananya Panday also praised the Indian women’s squad in a tweet, writing that the squad has made us so incredibly proud by bringing home the first-ever U-19 T20 World Cup and complimenting the devotion and hard work put in by the whole team.In addition, a large number of celebrities, including Pooja Hegde, Dia Mirza, Farhan Akhtar, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor, Esha Deol, Abhishek Bachchan, and Ayushmann Khurrana, wished the team well.
