Twitter now allow users to record Spaces – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Twitter introduced its Clubhouse rival — Spaces in 2021. Since then the company has rolled out various updates in order to better the user experience for it. The microblogging website has now rolled out a new update allowing all Android and iOS users to record Twitter Spaces.
Users can now select to record a Space when they are setting one up and the recording will be available for public playback for 30 days after the Space has ended. The company posted on Twitter to inform the users about the new update. The company tweeted, “Another update on Spaces Recording:
The option for hosts to record is now available for everyone on Android and iOS! When starting a Space, tap the “Record Space” switch to have it available for public playback for 30 days once the Space has ended.”
Users will see an icon on the top of the Space if it is being recorded. Twitter first introduced the feature in October last year. With the ability to record Spaces and share them across the platform, Hosts are able to extend the value of their work past the moment during which a Space is live and listeners have the benefit of playing back the Space and sharing it across their timelines.
This new feature will enable anyone who was late to a Twitter Spaces broadcast to replay the broadcast once it’s finished and if a host has enabled recording. So, now the tweets that are shared to promote Twitter Spaces broadcasts will now consist of a link to a recording.
How to record a Twitter Space
To create a Spaces Recording, Hosts will need to toggle on ‘Record Space’ prior to launching a new Space. All participants will see a recording icon appear when they enter the Space indicating that the Space is being recorded. Once the Space ends, Hosts will have access to the full-length Recording for 30 days after initial broadcast, during which they can share it or Tweet it. Listeners will also have the ability to play back any recorded Space directly from their timeline, as well as share recorded Spaces across their networks.
Hosts can delete a Spaces Recording at any time however, Twitter will still keep a data file of it for a period of 30-120 days in order to check for any abusive / hateful content. Listeners simply click the ‘Play Recording’ button on any Spaces Card in the timeline to playback recorded Spaces.
