Twitter is changing this to boost live video quality – Times of India

Twitter is removing the option to invite guests when you go live to improve the video broadcast quality. The feature to invite guests in a broadcast via audio before going live was introduced in March last year. Though the live broadcast now will only feature the people in the frame, viewers can still interact through chats and hearts.
“As of today we’re removing the option to invite guests when you go live, so we can improve your video broadcast quality. Your viewers can still interact with you through chat and hearts.” tweet by Twitter Support handle read.

Although the company claims that the feature is being removed to improve the live video quality, it’s worth noting that the platform already has a Clubhouse-like feature called Spaces for live audio sharing. Spaces which allows hosts to tag their content with up to three topics. Currently, only 10 topics are available to choose from – finance, music, sports, technology, arts-culture, home-family, careers, gaming, world news and business.
Last month, the social media firm also announced that it has improved the quality of videos on the platform. The company removed a pre-processing step in its video pipeline during upload. The removed step used to divide videos into smaller sections for ingestion. The additional processing used to hamper the quality of the videos. As per app researcher Jane Manchun Wong, Twitter is working on video playback speed options as well and according to the image shared by her earlier, the platform can soon have 4 video playback speed options – 0.5x speed, Normal, 1.5x speed and 2x speed.
The company also recently announced that it is working to fix disappearing tweets. The issue has been bugging users for a while now as the tweets suddenly disappear from the view because the app refreshes. The company acknowledged the issue and shared an update from its support account saying that it will be rolling out updates in the next two months to resolve the issue.
