Twitter in awe of incredible CM Punk vs. MJF match at AEW Revolution

Twitter was left in awe after the brutal Dog Collar Match between CM Punk and MJF at AEW Revolution.

The AEW Revolution card featured plenty of incredible matches for fans to watch. But perhaps the most anticipated bout on the night was between the heated and hated rivals, CM Punk and MJF. After MJF defeated Punk last month on AEW Dynamite, Punk earned the right to challenge his foe to any match he wanted. So, he chose the most brutal stipulations in wrestling history, the Dog Collar Match, at Revolution on March 6.

After a brutal match, Punk defeated MJF after hitting him with Go to Sleep into a pile of thumbtacks and hitting the latter with the Dynamite Diamond ring provided to him by MJF’s Pinnacle stablemate, Wardlow.

Towards the end of the match, MJF called Wardlow down to the ring and asked for the Dynamite Diamond ring. The winner of the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match earlier in the night reached into his pockets, but he “couldn’t find it.” Punk hit a Go to Sleep on MJF, who fell back first into the tacks. It was then that Wardlow revealed that he did actually have possession of the ring, throwing it in the ring and turning his back on MJF.

On the final episode of AEW Dynamite before Revolution, MJF took a page out of Punk’s playbook by using one of Punk’s infamous Ring of Honor promos against him after bloodying him with the Dynamite Diamond ring. So at Revolution, Punk entered the ring wearing his old ROH attire and entering to his old theme song “Miseria Cantare” by AFI.

Punk was the first of the two to draw blood in the early goings of the match. After MJF dominated, the veteran was able to get the upper hand, as he wrapped the steel chain around his knee and hit MJF with a Shining Wizard. As a result, MJF was bleeding from his forehead.

Towards the end of the match, Punk was unable to hit a Go to Sleep due to his knee giving out on him. But as the two were standing on the ring apron, MJF attempted the Tombstone Piledriver on the ring apron, but it was countered by Punk, who hit the move himself.

After a missed diving elbow drop by Punk, MJF went under the ring and pulled out a bag filled with thumbtacks. The two avoided multiple attempts to get thrown into the pile of tacks, but eventually, it was Punk who fell onto them after a top rope superplex.

Eventually, it was Punk to send MJF into the thumbtacks to get a win over the brash young superstar. Now, it looks as though MJF and the remaining members of The Pinnacle will set their sights on Wardlow.
