Twitter Blue: Twitter Blue subscribers getting extended character limit for tweets – Times of India
In its latest development, the company has increased the character count for a tweet to 25,000. But the increased limit is only for paid users.
“We have increased NoteTweet (aka longform Tweet) limit from 10k to 25k characters. Enjoy longer NoteTweet and happy tweeting!” an engineer at Twitter, Prachi Poddar, said in a tweet.
While Poddar made the announcement tweet last week, Twitter reportedly updated the Twitter Blue information page mentioning the new limit this week.
In comparison to Twitter, rival platforms like Mastodon only allow 500 characters and former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey-backed Bluesky only allowed 300 characters.
Twitter Blue perks
Apart from increased character limit for tweets, the microblogging platform also offers other perks to Blue subscribers.
These include the Edit Tweet feature that gives users an hour’s window to make a limited number of changes to published Tweets; approximately 50% fewer ads in the For You and Following timelines; and prioritised rankings in conversations and search.
It also offers Text formatting allowing users to bold and italicise text in tweets on the web; Undo Tweet to retract a tweet after you send it; and longer video upload allowing users to upload videos up to 2 hours long and up to 8GB file size (1080p) on twitter.com and Twitter for iOS only.
However, this feature has been misused several times as people have uploaded full-length movies on the platform.
