Trinamool leader Kuntal Ghosh arrested in connection with WBSSC recruitment scam
The ED on Saturday produced Trinamool Congress Kuntal Ghosh in a local court in connection with the teacher recruitment scam in the state and ED has sought custody, sources said. Ghosh, during his court production, claimed that he had been framed. Ghosh was arrested following his non-cooperation with the interrogation by the agency. The central agency had searched his two flats in the northern fringes of Kolkata on Friday. Following his arrest, Ghosh was taken for a health check and then produced in court.
Trinamool’s Tapas Mondal, who owned a teacher’s training was questioned by the ED and CBI in Kolkata, had reportedly named Kuntal Ghosh as one of those who had raised money from several job aspirants. Mondal has reportedly given documents to the agencies regarding the involvement of Kuntal Ghosh, who had allegedly taken money from 325 job aspirants.
The youth wing member of Trinamool’s Hooghly district, Ghosh, was previously questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The ED had arrested former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee in this case in 2022.
Reacting to the arrest, BJP Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said, “These arrested leaders should be taken outside Bengal in order to carry out investigations properly.”
