Trailors of upcoming anime Uzumaki, Ninja Kamui, FLCL released; here are all details

Adult Swim recently unveiled exciting trailers for three upcoming anime series: “Uzumaki,” “Ninja Kamui,” and “FLCL: Grunge.” “FLCL: Grunge” is scheduled to debut on September 9th, while “Ninja Kamui” will premiere later this year. As for “Uzumaki,” its release date was not mentioned in the video, but Jason DeMarco confirmed via Twitter that it is expected later this year.

Uzumaki

“Uzumaki,” based on Junji Ito’s horror manga, encountered several delays in its journey to Toonami. Initially planned for a 2020 Toonami debut before its Japanese release, it was pushed to 2021, and then further delayed to October 2022, and once again in June 2022. The mini-series, consisting of four episodes, will eventually make its much-anticipated debut on Toonami.

Directed by Hiroshi Nagahama and produced by Studio Drive and Studio Akatsuki, “Uzumaki” is a joint effort between Production I.G. USA and Adult Swim. The anime’s music will be composed by Colin Stetson, adding to the immersive horror experience.

The eerie narrative of “Uzumaki” revolves around a town plagued by bizarre and mysterious occurrences, all related to the ominous spiral shape. The manga originally comprised three volumes, released by Viz Media in 2007-2008, with an omnibus edition later published. This spine-chilling manga also inspired a live-action horror film in 2000.

FLCL Anime

Next in line are two new seasons of the FLCL anime: “FLCL: Grunge” and “FLCL: Shoegaze.” Directed by Hitoshi Takekiyo at MontBlanc Pictures, “FLCL: Grunge” is a CGI anime that delves into the lives of three teenagers who have graduated and entered the world of work. The anime will explore themes of adulthood and maturity. Meanwhile, “FLCL: Shoegaze,” directed by Yutaka Uemura at Production I.G and NUT, takes place ten years after “FLCL Alternative” and revolves around a high school boy and girl.Providing music for both “FLCL” anime seasons is the renowned band, The Pillows.Jason DeMarco, creative director of Toonami and senior vice president of action and anime for WarnerMedia, is serving as executive producer for both “FLCL” seasons, while Maki Terashima-Furuta from Production I.G. USA is the producer.

Ninja Kamui

Another captivating addition to Adult Swim’s anime lineup is “Ninja Kamui,” a futuristic action/adventure series directed by Sunghoo Park. The story follows Joe Higan, a Nukenin, or former ninja, who has escaped his clan and settled in rural America with his family to escape his violent past. However, his peaceful life shatters when he is ambushed by assassins from his former organization, seeking revenge for his betrayal. Rising from the apparent demise, Joe transforms into “Ninja Kamui” to avenge his loved ones. Armed with ancient skills against modern technology, he confronts trained assassins, combat cyborgs, and rival ninjas in his quest for justice.

Produced by Sunghoo Park’s studio E&H production and Sola Entertainment, “Ninja Kamui” promises a thrilling blend of ancient ninja prowess and cutting-edge weaponry.

With these highly anticipated anime series and their engaging trailers, Adult Swim continues to be a hub for captivating and diverse animated content, delighting anime enthusiasts and fans worldwide.
