Tottenham ‘open talks’ with Football Manager revelation Will Still as they eye permanent successor to Antonio Conte… with Europe’s youngest boss ‘catching the eye in north London’ (even if he is a West Ham fan!)

  • Tottenham meet with Remis boss Will Still about vacant manager’s position
  •  30-year-old Still took over the French club in October as Europe’s youngest boss
  •  Still cites video game Football Manager as being a big influence on his career

Tottenham have opened talks with Remis boss and Football Manager enthusiast Will Still about possibly becoming the club’s next manager.

Still has caused a sensation across Ligue 1 this season, after becoming Europe’s youngest boss at just 30-years-old, and only suffering three defeats in his 24 games in charge of Remis this season, following the sacking of Oscar Garcia in October.

The story is made even more remarkable by the fact the club were being fined €25,000 for every match he was in charge, as Still was still studying for his UEFA Pro Licence – a job requirement in Ligue 1.

His success hasn’t gone unnoticed and according to Sports Italia, Still had a surprise meeting with Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici about becoming Tottenham’s new boss.

This, despite Paratici taking a leave of absence pending the outcome of an appeal following his worldwide ban over his dealings while at Juventus.

Born in Belgium to English parents, Still has been open to how the video game Football Manager influenced his desire to go into coaching.

Telling Sportsmail earlier this year:’I spent nights where you get to 10 o’clock in the evening, thinking, ‘Ok one more game.’ And then you end up at 4 o’clock in the morning: ‘Oh, I’m still at it. ‘But what I realise now, the crazy thing is it’s actually so realistic.’

The late night cramming sessions obviously had an effect as Still led Remis to an unbeaten 17-game run following his appointment, which included 10 wins in row and it’s put his name on Spurs’ radar – even though he’s comes from a West Ham  supporting family.

Admitting earlier this year that he wants to coach in England and where his alliances lie.

‘England always feels like home and somewhere I want to go back to. It’s part of me, part of my roots, family – a part of who I am.

‘Yes the rumours are true. My Dad is a West Ham fan and it runs in the family.’

The Hammers post may still be one that is open to Still ahead of next season with the club possibly looking to replace David Moyes once he secures their Premier League safety.

Vincent Kompany and Luis Enrique remain the favourites for the Spurs job, but Still’s odds have shortened and is the frame for the post along with Brendan Rodgers and former Tottenham gaffer Mauricio Pochettino.
