Tottenham Hotspur reportedly make Harry Kane decision

English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur intend to keep striker Harry Kane through the summer transfer window.

ESPN FC senior writer Mark Ogden reported Tuesday that Tottenham informed Kane he is not available for transfer ahead of the 2023-24 campaign. Ogden added that, despite stories claiming otherwise, sources say Tottenham received no official bid from German giants Bayern Munich for the England captain who turns 30 years old next month and who is out of contract after the upcoming season.

Sky Sports News also noted that no official offer from Bayern Munich for Kane is on the table even though Sky in Germany reported that the Bundesliga side bid approximately $76.5M plus add-ons for the three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner as that competition’s top scorer for a season.

Football reporter Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian added that Kane wants to join Bayern Munich after it was previously reported that Manchester United won’t actively pursue the forward due to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s asking price. Steinberg said that Levy could want as much as £100M (approximately $127M) for Kane from Bayern Munich, Manchester United or any other suitor.

Kane still needs another 48 goals to break the all-time Premier League record held by Alan Shearer but also has yet to hoist any significant club silverware during his career. Steinberg wrote that Kane “is ready to move to Germany and knows that joining (Bayern Munich head coach Thomas Tuchel’s) team would give him an excellent chance of ending the wait for his first trophy,” but that doesn’t mean Levy will sell his star after Tottenham finished a disappointing eighth in the Premier League table this spring.

“Tottenham are not prepared to entertain any offers and, as far as Daniel Levy is concerned, Kane will be a Spurs player next season,” Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge explained. Levy famously refused to sell Kane to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City two summers ago.

As mentioned by Sky, Tottenham introduced Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach earlier this month. Postecoglou most recently guided Celtic to back-to-back Scottish Premiership titles and a domestic treble this past season and presumably wants Kane in his squad unless the prolific goal-scorer forces a move from Tottenham before September.
