- The north London club wanted to bring Herrera back to England in a swap deal
- The Spaniard would only rejoin Man United if he returned to the Premier League
Ander Herrera has ruled out a move to Tottenham as part of a swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombele because he is happy at PSG and would only return to England to play for Manchester United.
Spurs have been locked in talks with PSG over a potential loan move for Ndombele, who has fallen out of favour in north London this season.
After being jeered off the field against Morecambe on January 9, the French midfielder has failed to make it into Antonio Conte’s three next matchday squads and therefore appears set to leave this month.

Spurs reportedly tried to include Herrera in a deal that would see Ndombele join PSG
However, while a loan switch to PSG initially looked likely, The Athletic are now reporting that Spurs have failed with an attempt to include Herrera as part of the deal.
The Premier League side wanted to bring Herrera, who previously spent five years at Man United, in the opposite direction back to England just 31 months after he departed Old Trafford.
But unfortunately for Conte and co, the 32-year-old midfielder is understood to be completely happy in Paris, where he has featured 25 times under Mauricio Pochettino this season.
And if he were to head back to the Premier League, Herrera would only do so for a second stint at United.
But Herrera is said to be more than happy with life under Mauricio Pochettino at PSG
And if he returned to England it would be to play for Manchester United again
In his previous spell with the Red Devils he racked up a total of 189 appearances, scoring 20 goals and winning the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.
Herrera chose to leave at the end of his contract in July 2019, signing for PSG on a free transfer and winning the Ligue 1 title in his debut campaign.
He also came close to winning the Champions League that year, suffering a 1-0 defeat against Bayern Munich in the behind-closed-doors final.
Spurs are keen to add a new central midfielder to their ranks this month, with AC Milan’s Franck Kessie and Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat also on their radar.
