Top College Basketball picks and predictions today (Duke will take down UNC)
Saturdays are built for college basketball in the first few months of the year.
From January until the end of March Madness, we should all be sitting on our couches and spending every Saturday watching and betting on the hundreds of games going on across the country.
Today is no different.
Want some college basketball plays for today without the hassle of looking up all the stats and numbers yourself? You’ve come to the right place.
Let’s dive into my best college basketball plays for today’s action.
College Basketball best bets today
- Auburn/Tennessee OVER 134.5
- Indiana -110 vs. Purdue
- Duke -3.5 vs. UNC
Auburn/Tennessee OVER 134.5
Auburn and Tennessee are two of the best defensive teams in the country, both ranking inside the top 20 in virtually every single defensive statistic. That might make you think the UNDER is the bet to make, but not so fast.
Both of these teams play at a fast pace, ranking 88th and 115th in field goal attempts per game. More shots taken means a higher potential for plenty of points.
Also, both Auburn and Tennessee are great offensive rebounding teams but struggle rebounding on the defensive side of the court. The Volunteers rank second in offensive rebounding rate and the Tigers rank 24th. Meanwhile, they rank 117th and 281st in defensive rebounding rate.
Offensive rebounds leads to more points. Let’s try to big brain this and take the OVER 134.5.
Indiana -110 vs. Purdue
Arguably the best and most anticipated game of the day is the rivalry matchup between No. 1 Purdue and No. 21 Indiana.
The line is set as a pick’em, and it might be a hot take, but I actually love Indiana to beat the No. 1 ranked team in the country.
First of all, Indiana is the better shooting team, ranking 16th in effective field goal percentage, compared to Purdue who comes in at 72nd. It’s also important to note that the Hoosiers effective field goal percentage goes up 10% when playing on their home court compared to on the road.
I also think Indiana has the advantage from a stylistic point of view. 71.1% of Indiana’s shots come from two-point range, which is the 20th highest rate in the country. Meanwhile, 56.5% of the points the Boilermakers allow come from two-point shots, which ranks 339th in the country.
I’ll back Indiana as a pick’em.
Duke -3.5 vs. UNC
The next chapter in one of the greatest rivalries in college basketball will go down tonight when UNC takes on Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
Duke has the defensive advantage in this matchup, which should be the difference maker. The Blue Devils rank 35th in opponent effective field goal percentage, while the Tar Heels ranks 140th.
Duke also holds the advantage on offensive in some advanced analytics, such as effective possession ratio, where Duke ranks 11th in the country.
I’ll back the Blue Devils to get the job done on Saturday night.
