Titans HC Mike Vrabel: RB Derrick Henry is ‘fully healed’ from foot injury

Tennessee Titans All-Pro running back Derrick Henry was leading the NFL in rushing when he suffered a foot injury on Halloween that kept him out of the lineup through the end of the regular season, and his return for Saturday’s playoff game against the Cincinnati Bengals wasn’t enough to prevent Tennessee from being bounced out of the postseason tournament.

Titans head coach Mike Vrabel spoke with reporters on Monday and made it clear the two-time rushing champion wasn’t carrying a significant physical setback into this past weekend.

“I think he’s fully healed. I know he’s fully healed,” Vrabel said of Henry, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk. “I’m sure he’ll have a great offseason and we’ll try to use him to help us to win football games.”

The former Most Valuable Player candidate finished Saturday’s loss with 62 rushing yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and he notched a total of 239 rushes and 18 receptions across the entire campaign.

Vrabel added on Monday that he “didn’t get that sense from any doctor” Henry’s workload caused the injury that cost him half the season, but one wonders if the coaching staff will do more down the road to manage the 28-year-old’s touches so that he can remain in his physical prime for as long as possible.
