Tina Dabi receives accolades from Pakistani refugees after land allocation
Tina Dabi, the District Collector of Jaisalmer, receives praise and garlands from Pakistani refugees in the wake of her remarkable decision to allocate over 40 bighas of land near Moolsagar for their resettlement.
As per a report by Dalit Desk, this compassionate action follows the eviction of the refugees from temporary dwellings in the Amarsagar region, which caused significant public outcry and backlash.
Recently, Tina Dabi had came under fire over the demolition of the houses of Hindu migrants from Pakistan who have settled on government lands in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. According to the reports, more than 50 ‘kutcha’ houses, which housed over 150 women, men, and children, were razed to the ground allegedly on Tina Dabi’s orders.
In protest, the Hindu migrants set up tents outside her house in Jaisalmer. Opposing the anti-encroachment drive, the Hindu migrants demanded that their concerns be heard. Tina Dabi was also slammed on social media.
Tina Dabi further mentioned that the allocation of land to the migrants would occur after they obtain Indian citizenship. She also informed that in the meantime, the district administration has made arrangements for the accommodation of Hindu migrants at the government-operated shelter house, commonly referred to as ‘Ren Basera,’ until the land is allotted to them.
Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Tina Dabi took charge as the collector and magistrate of Jaisalmer district in Rajasthan in July 2022. Tina Dabi announced the development in a tweet.
Before joining as the collector and magistrate of Jaisalmer district, Tina Dabi was posted in Jaipur. Tina Dabi was recently in the news for her wedding to Dr Pradeep Gawande — a 2013 batch IAS officer — in April.
