Timothée Chalamet Borrowed His Oscars Look From the Womenswear Runways
Timothée Chalamet will always deliver on the red carpet. The star is as much a fashion obsessee as he is a movie star. He always embraces risk-taking dressing, whether he’s in sequined Louis Vuitton harnesses or floral Alexander McQueen suits. At tonight’s high-stakes Oscars, Chalamet continued this streak. He posed for the cameras in a sequined black suit by Louis Vuitton—worn sans shirt—instantly setting the Chalamaniacs (his diehard fans) ablaze.
Chalamet’s suit felt particularly fresh given it was plucked from Nicolas Ghesquière’s spring 2022 womenswear collection. Given the look’s sleek tailoring and clean lines, it could easily be worn by anyone. Chalamet proved that timeless design shouldn’t be bound by gender. His choice of accessories, however, made it feel slightly more mensy. He paired the two-piece with sleek patent ankle boots—one of his signature red carpet shoes!—and tons of Cartier silver rings. Layered necklaces, also from Cartier, were a tasteful finishing touch. Overall, it was an effective lesson in the whole “less is more” approach to dressing. With a killer suit and a dash of skin, you really don’t need much else!
