‘Time to get off the ride’: Coinbase chief product officer Surojit Chatterjee steps down
Coinbase said, adding that he will continue to serve the company in an advisory role at least until February 3, 2023.
“In connection with Chatterjee’s resignation, Coinbase’s product, engineering and design teams are being reorganized within a product group structure under which the leaders of such groups will assume responsibility for Coinbase’s product offerings,” it added.
The crypto exchange said it was grateful for Chatterjee’s contributions through his stint, including his leadership in building Coinbase’s product organisation and product launches.
According to Chatterjee’s LinkedIn profile, he joined Coinbase in February 2020 and was responsible for “product management, design, user research and strategic programs”.
Prior to Coinbase, he had worked at Google, Flipkart and IBM, among others.
Taking to Twitter,
Chatterjee said, “After nearly 3 incredible years as CPO at Coinbase, I’m taking a breather & stepping down. Thanks to the entire CB team — I’m looking forward to continuing to serve Brian Armstrong (Coinbase cofounder and CEO) and the exec team as an advisor.”

A tough year on the personal front
Separately, in an
article published on LinkedIn, Chatterjee said, “now it’s time to get off the ride and catch my breath”.
In the post, entitled “Reflecting on my crypto and web3 journey, but time for a little break….,” he said, “As our product leaders have taken on more responsibility, I’ve been able to consider taking a much-needed personal break to spend more time with my family.”
“It has been a tough year for me personally — my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and my mother passed away unexpectedly. If I’m honest with myself, I don’t think I’ve allowed myself time to grieve either yet,” he added.
“My confidence in the company and the executive team grew with each and every conversation, and I’m immensely proud of what my team and I have accomplished together,” Chatterjee wrote.
