JOHANNESBURG – Thuso Mbedu, a well-known actor and spokesperson for Sub-Saharan Africa for L’Oréal Paris, will serve as one of the judges for the upcoming Miss South Africa 2023 pageant.

The crowning will take place on Sunday, August 13 at Sun International’s premier location, the SunBet Arena in Pretoria’s Time Square.

On Tuesday, the judges’ panel was revealed on social media.

The actor from The Woman King was named the brand’s spokesperson and ambassador in May. L’Oréal Paris took over as the year’s principal sponsor of cosmetics, skincare, and haircare one month later, in June.

The 32-year-old actor was also added to the list of judges, and media personality and entrepreneur, Bonang Matheba, was named as the host of this year’s glitzy finale.

Having a lengthy history with Miss South Africa over the previous ten years, Matheba first hosted the pageant in 2018 for its 60th anniversary before returning in 2019 when Zozibini Tunzi won and went on to win Miss Universe.

Since then, Matheba has travelled with the finalists as a judge on the Miss South Africa television programme Crown Chasers, which was just aired on SABC 3.
