‘Thunivu’ vs ‘Varisu’ box office collection day 5: Ajith starrer leads in Tamil Nadu – Times of India

After 9 years, Ajith and Vijay’s films clashed at the box office on January 11, 2023, especially for Pongal, both the movies have been successfully running for 5 days in theatres worldwide. According to reports, Ajith’s film ‘Thunivu’ has been performing better this week in Tamil Nadu. The movie is said to have entered the Rs 100 crore club and the Vijay starrer is nearing towards it. Reportedly, Vijay’s ‘Varisu’ has made a box office collection of Rs 85 crore in the box office.
Directed by H Vinoth, ‘Thunivu’ is a bank heist thriller starring Ajith and Manju Warrier in the lead roles. The movie’s music is composed by Ghibran and the film has made a box office collection of Rs 100 crore. On day 1, the film made a collection of Rs 24 crore and over the weekend the film has managed to continue to have a collection of Rs 18 crore. The film has been received well by the audience and it has Ajith playing a negative role in the film.

Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, ‘Varisu’ is a family drama starring Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles. The movie’s music is composed by S Thaman and the film has made a box office collection of Rs 85 crore in the box office. On day 1, the film made a box office collection of Rs 23 crore and over the weekend the movie has made a box office collection of Rs 15 crore. The Telugu version of the film ‘Vaarasudu’ was released in theatres on January 14 and the film has made a box office collection of Rs 13 crore at the box office in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
