Throwback: When Salman Khan liked the script of Baazigar, but found the character ‘too negative’ – Times of India
In an old interview to a leading chat show, Salman revealed that he and has father, Salim Khan had earlier suggested director duo Abbas Mustan to make some changes to the script, to soften the crudity of the character, but they were shrugged aside by the brothers. Salman said, “I liked Baazigar, but I found the character too negative. So I told Abbas-Mustan to add a mother-like character. Both the brothers laughed at us, saying that this is very cliche. This was dad’s suggestion that he is doing this for his mother. Anyway, we left the film and SRK signed the film.”
However, later when the entire movie was completed, Salim Khan’s suggestion was actually incorporated. Salman added, “After the entire film was completed, they called me and said that mother idea that you had na, we are adding to the film. Thank you very much.”
Baazigar set the tone for negative characters for King Khan and he followed it up with movies like Darr, Anjaam, Ram Jaane and Don amongst others.
