Throwback: When Juhi Chawla’s father turned down Salman Khan’s marriage proposal – Times of India

Salman Khan has been the most eligible bachelor in the country for the past few decades now. The superstar has always been pretty open about his relationships and there have been a few times when he had come really close to getting married. In one of his old interviews, Salman had spoken about asking Juhi Chawla’s father S Chawla for her hand in marriage but unfortunately he got rejected.
In the short clip of his old interview, Salman was looking uber cool in a printed blue shirt and a hat. Then Salman can he heard talking about Juhi and how sweet and adorable she is. “Juhi is very sweet. Adorable girl. I toh asked her father if he would let her get married to me,” Salman said.

The interview then asked Salman about her father’s reaction to his proposal. To which, he replied, “No. Don’t fit the bill I guess.” Salman had further said that he was unaware of the reasons why Juhi’s father rejected him and what qualities he was looking for. Many people felt that Salman was quite soft-spoken during the interview while a few other people called it the superstar’s heartbreaking moment.

For the uninitiated, Salman and Juhi have worked together just once in the 1997 comedy Deewana Mastana which also featured Anil Kapoor and Govinda in the lead. The movie saw Salman making a special appearance in the David Dhawan directorial.

Juhi has been happily married to businessman Jay Mehta since 1995. They welcomed two children, a daughter Jhanvi and son Arjun.
