Sharing that she once attended law school, the
Tashan actor said, “I went to a government law college and sat on those desks. My family was very upset that how can you go to college and do this. I was behaving like a normal girl. But then I got bored of it. It required too much hard work.”
Soon after that, she enrolled herself for a course at Harvard, just to “have a good time.” After initial opposition from her mom Babita and older sister Karisma, the
3 Idiots actor took off for Harvard.
Recalling her family’s reaction on the same, Kareena said that “It was the biggest thing ever. Everyone in the family was reacting like, ‘oh my god, my niece, my this, my that has gone to Harvard, a Kapoor girl with no brain has gone to Harvard.’ They all overreacted and celebrated.” Kareena also added that since the Kapoors were not particularly known for being the most educated of families in terms of degrees, this was quite a feat.
Eventually, the
Jab We Met actor decided to ditch academics for good and took to acting full time, making her debut in 2000 in the movie
Refugee, directed by J.P. Dutta, co-starring Abhishek Bachchan.
