This It Girl Label Keeps Getting Hotter

The Poster Girl is a Barbie doll brought to life. With striped fishnet mini dresses and tops, embellished shiny metal dresses, and tiny cheeky latex shorts topped with dramatic belts, the UK-based brand isn’t afraid of fun. Designer duo and Central Saint Martins alums Natasha Somerville and Francesca Caper launched the label in 2018, and quickly made a name for themselves with their sexy, feminine sensibility. On a short list of Poster Girl fans are Meg Thee Stallion, Dua Lipa, SZA, and the ultimate It girl Paris Hilton. Somerville and Capper have created a femme fatale universe where everything is, to steal a phrase from Hilton, totally hot.

This year the brand is expanding their reach and launching their very first collection in the US this week. They tapped musician JT, of the Miami rap girl group City Girls, as their muse and campaign star. Clearly JT—who was also recently photographed in the front row of Mugler’s fall 2023 show—is stepping into her fashion girl era. “It’s a dream. I’ve always wanted to be in fashion and Poster Girl being the first opportunity is a big deal being that they’re two girls,” the artist shares with Vogue. United by a carefree spirit, the artist and designers are a match made in fashion heaven.

Some of the standouts in the most recent collection are the fishnet jumpsuits with stripes in brown and red, and intricate cutouts to accentuate the body; a latex mini dress with leather laces on the sides; and statement accessories including oversized pronged rings and embellished buckled belts. Each piece is designed to make women feel like they are in total control. “America has always been our biggest market and where we feel the most seen and heard. So when we heard JT say ‘poster girl pussy’ [in her No Bars freestyle] it just made too much sense,” the designers shared. In the campaign JT wore a strapless hot pink latex dress and ribbon earrings paired with pointed-toe pumps with an exaggerated platform base. In another image, the star was dressed in the label’s signature fishnets. The coveted collection is being sold through the brand’s site ranging from $70 to $2,300.

JT, Somerville, and Capper celebrated the launch in New York with a party hosted in partnership with Cash App. The city’s cool kids—including Justine Skye, Parker Kit Hill, Sean Garrette, Babyxsosa, and Fiffany Luu—arrived dressed in the brand’s past and present collections: dressed up dolls as far as the eye could see.
