The Witcher Twitter Review: Henry Cavill’s exit from the latest instalment upsets fans – Times of India

The latest season of ‘The Witcher’ is enjoying a top spot on a streaming platform. This long-running show, which aired first in 2019, is set in the fictional, medieval-inspired landmass named the Continent and revolves around the legend of Geralt of Rivia played by Henry Cavill. The show is based on a book series by the same name, by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
Ever since the new season debuted, twitter was abuzz with comments – on the actors, especially Henry Cavill, on Yennefer, relationships and more.Cavill’s fans are upset that this will be his last season in ‘The Witcher’ and there are plenty of tweets around this. Kevin, a twitter user says, “Henry Cavill as the Witcher was just so awesome to me…. It’s the ONLY reason I watched this. This show is done after this season.” However, Cavill is leaving not because he will be playing Superman with DC, but as Kevin explains in another tweet, he is leaving “mainly because the writing sucked and they wouldn’t follow source material in a nutshell”. v.ctrrria comments on the actor’s Instagram page that “Henry is the reason Witcher is good. So I’m excited for this one. Final season with you means it’s final season forever”.
But while fans are upset about Cavill’s exit from the show, the third season has its supporters too. Daniel Roman, writes that although he has been “notoriously hard” on The Witcher and has had “issues with every season and spinoff,” Season 3 is “by far the best the show has ever been….” The audience may be upset about Cavill’s impending departure from the show, but critics’ ratings on the tomatometer stand at 83 per cent with praise for Henry Cavill’s gruff charm. Brian Lowry of CNN.com who says that the actor is “leaving on a relatively high note, thanks to a tighter, more focused third season.”
