The winners of the third edition of ISPA
ISPA – Italian Sustainability Photo Award invites photographers to tell the story of sustainability according to the three themes summarised in the acronym ESG: environment, society and governance. It was conceived by the photojournalistic agency Parallelozero three years ago, in collaboration with PIMCO as main sponsor.
The winners of this third edition are: Valeria Scrilatti (best single photo, awarded 1,500€), Elisabetta Zavoli (best photo story, awarded 3,000€) and Tomaso Clavarino (10,000€ grant for the development of a photo project). Special mentions for Paola Lai and Elisabetta Zavoli.
Lowepro Ambassador status was also awarded to Paola Lai, for her work “Mediterranean Sea: The Odyssey of Sea Turtles”, a project that followed marine biologists working in Sardinia at the CReS – Centro di Recupero del Sinis.
Nikon, on the other hand, awarded the Nikon – Capture Tomorrow special prize to Elisabetta Zavoli’s photographic story, “Crime School”: a project on the theme of social rehabilitation in a prison context, which in the jury’s opinion is fully in line with the concept of “capturing tomorrow”.
The award, which is free of charge and open to all photographers regardless of age or nationality, has seen as many as 1183 photographers of 52 different nationalities take part over the past three years, with more than 8477 photographs submitted, registering an average increase of 120% over the three-year period.
The projects were selected by an international jury composed of Alessia Glaviano (Head of Global PhotoVogue and director of PhotoVogue Festival), Antonio Carloni (Founder of Cortona On The Move and deputy director of the Gallerie d’Italia in Turin), Lucy Conticello (director of photography of M, Le Monde magazine) and Mads Nissen (World Press Photo winning photographer and staff photographer for Politiken, the leading Danish daily), and chaired by journalist and TV presenter Tiziana Ferrario.
