As of March 20, The Weeknd has garnered the highest number of monthly listeners on Spotify, with a staggering 111.4 million. He is also the first artist to achieve the milestone of 100 million monthly listeners on the popular digital music streaming service.

The organization further revealed that Miley Cyrus is the nearest competitor to The Weeknd, with 82.4 million monthly listeners. In comparison, other well-known artists, such as Shakira, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Ed Sheeran trail behind, with monthly listenership ranging from 77.5 million to 81.6 million.
It is worth mentioning that the original version of “Die For You” was included in The Weeknd’s “Starboy” album, which was released in 2016. However, it unexpectedly reached the top of the charts six years later. GWR reported that this is the lengthiest ascent to number one on the Hot 100 for a non-holiday track in history.
