The ‘Vikram Vedha’ mess between Hrithik Roshan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan- Exclusive Scoop – Times of India

The headline of this story is apt because the kahaani is quite complicated. You see, the much-talked about ‘Vikram Vedha’ which is ready for release, underwent a whole of complications (which you aren’t aware about until you read this down till the last word). ETimes brings you this BIG SCOOP, FIRST and EXCLUSIVE. The complications happened at the casting stage.

There are too many stories on the internet and none of them provides the real picture from head to toe.

The story goes that Phantom Films saw the original ‘Vikram Vedha’ of the South and got extremely excited. Phantom knocked Hrithik Roshan’s door and Hrithik liked the film. On the other hand, Shibasish Sarkar – CEO of Reliance Entertainment- who had 50 per cent stakes in Phantom Films, approached Aamir Khan.

Aamir got on board and brought in Saif Ali Khan. A few days later, Aamir felt that Shah Rukh would be great for Saif’s role. Aamir spoke to Shah Rukh, who liked his role. And, SRK did not lay down any conditions on doing the film as it was being reported on some websites. Contrary to reports, SRK had not insisted that he wants to play the role played by Vijay Sethupathi in the 2017 original and not the R Madhavan’s part. Also it had been wrongly reported that he wanted Neeraj Pandey to direct the film.

Next, Aamir told Reliance Entertainment that they need not worry about SRK coming in place of Saif as he, SRK and Saif would sort this out among themselves. But Sarkar was averse to replacing Saif. Aamir got a whiff of this and called the film’s director duo- Gayatri and Pushkar on the sets of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’- and told them that the creative calls on the film should ideally be taken by them and him. In a few days time from then, Aamir decided to quit the project.

Phantom Films, by then, had quit the film. Sarkar, whose Reliance Entertainment had 50 per cent stakes also in the company of Vikram Vedha’s original producer YNOT Studios (in Chennai), dashed to Hrithik and asked him to re-enter.

Thus, the Hindi remake found itself with Saif and Hrithik as its male leads. So now you know the FULL DRAMA that happened BTS before the Hindi ‘Vikram Vedha’ went on floors.

But… complicated, isn’t it?

Despite a text message that detailed the above story, Sarkar of Reliance Entertainment chose to not respond.
