Wayne Rooney’s eldest son Kai was on target during Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Man City in the U13 National Cup North final.
JJ Gabriel and 13-year-old Kai were the goalscorers in the Manchester derby, as Man United secured the 2022-23 season trophy, to set-up a meeting with Arsenal in the national final.
Kai proudly posted pictures of the celebrations to his Instagram account, including his medal and a trophy, alongside pictures of him with the whole squad as they celebrated the win.
Rooney wrote: ‘National Cup. 2-0 Win VS Man City’, adding that it was a ‘Great performance’.
It was the continuation of a trend which started with the way Wayne Rooney used to terrify Manchester City defenders when they squared up to each other in derbies in the 00s and 2010s.

Last year, Sportsmail revealed how Rooney broke the goalscoring record for the under-12s, and it is clear that Kai has stepped up into the next age bracket with similar success.
Wayne Rooney is the Red Devils’ all-time record scorer, with 253 goals in 559 games for the red half of Manchester.
Kai was on the Old Trafford pitch with his father in 2013 to celebrate Manchester United’s league win that season, a title that has eluded the club in the decade since.
MailOnline has also previously reported on how Kai has garnered success as an online influencer due to his legions of followers on social media.
